This was a dual exhibition by Artists Elizabeth Bishop and Rosemary Schoen, investigating their shared inspiration of the unique hills environment within the Darling Ranges. Bringing together their two separate practises of painting and ceramics, the artists explore notions of texture, colour and form as an expression of their shared surroundings.

Elizabeth was specifically inspired by the variation and striations within the landscape, its wonderful randomness creating a freedom amidst the ruggedness of her natural hills surroundings. Her work is playful and executed intuitively.

The artworks explore feelings of space, silence, rhythm, movement, sound and breath. The textural quality and sensitive use of colour give one a suggestion of the changing moods within the seasons, the moment, the hour, creating the context of a melodic harmony.

Location ZigZag Gallery, Kalamunda  Date 17-26 April 2021
